How to make a Wow! worthy nacho.

I might be alone in my attempts to make an awesome nacho at home. Am I?

Yes, you all have this nacho thing down already. *sigh* I knew it.

Since I’m clearly a nacho making newb

and I watch Good Day on Fox 4 in the mornings, I was glued to the T.V. set when the Chef from the Blue Goose was making nachos.

See the link below for the news segment and the nacho recipe.

Since I had been stuck in the land of microwaved chips with cheese on them, I was excited to see how the professionals do it.

These are the best nachos I have ever made. Seriously.

I must say, we had nachos the Blue Goose way for dinner last night and they are wonderful!

How do you make nachos?

  1. Um, I buy them. 😉

  2. I can’t watch! (It’ll make me too hungry.) Closer to lunch, I will. That plate is already making my stomach growl.

  3. Wow, looks really yummy, thanks .

  4. Love nachos…havn´t had them for ages though 😦

  5. Well great, I’ve already spent my eating-out budget for the week, but now I reaaaally want to go to my favorite vegan place and get nachos…I don’t know where they get their “cheese,” but I just CANNOT duplicate at home no matter how hard I try. So yeah, that’s how I make nachos–I go out to a restaurant and buy them 😀

    • Allie,

Since your cheese is different than mine, I’m not sure if this helps BUT… I used a freshly shredded mixture of mild cheddar and Monterey jack.

      • Yeah, vegan cheese is, in general, a terrible terrible thing (and yet is still beyond ridiculously expensive), which is why I almost never use it. However, my most favorite vegan restaurant has a delicious fake cheese, and I really need to ask them if it’s a certain brand I can buy somewhere or if they make it themselves. If they make it, I guess I’m just still out of luck for at-home nachos.

  6. Nothing like a good plate of nachos…I haven’t done them at home in a long time, but I used to make them in the oven, with pepperjack and cheddar…then toss things like fresh tomatoes and shredded lettuce on the plate with them. Wound up being more like a salad, so I knew the kids were eating something *slightly* healthy…

  7. oops…my comment got on the wrong post! What should have gotten here is that my son gets nachoes pretty routinely….I top the chips with leftovers, heat it up and he loves it!!

  8. I used to consider myself quite the nacho connoisseur. I try not to eat them as often as I used to, but they always call out to me. When I make or order nachos, I require jalapenos, good guacamole, salsa, melted cheese (obv) and a bit of sour cream. With these essentials in place, the sky is the limit.

  9. I don’t make them, I BUY and eat them…hehehe!!! 😀

  10. the last time I made nachos was in the steakhouse I worked at MANY moons ago 🙂

  11. I definitely buy nachos from one of the better Mexican restaurants in Chicago. I feel more comfortable with pros making my nachos! I’d just mess them up.
