My new favorite cooking show….

If you’re like me and you can’t sleep you either end up watching cooking shows or infomercials. Okay, maybe that’s just me. Of course, sometimes I watch crime TV, but I digress. One night last week, I stumbled upon Nadia G and Bitchin-Kitchen. Funny non? I made Nadia’s Bitchin’ Kitchen’s Crispy Medallione (fried ravioli) I …

What can you do? Double sick weekend.

Sometimes when it rains, it pours.  Sometimes an upper respiratory plague descends upon a household.  I ended up with 2 kids at the doctor yesterday.  One child with a sinus infection (the teen) and the other child with an upper respiratory infection (the tween).  Which means twice the coughing and twice the grumpy kid issues …

For goodness sake, I made a Homemade Foreo!

I made an Oreo like cookie. Honestly. What’s better than a homemade Oreo cookie? An over-sized, soft, chewy Oreo cookie…and a foot rub, but the foot rub is totally optional. 😉 It does not taste exactly like a Oreo, but it’s super good. I decided to make the cookies soft and chewy instead of crisp. …

Jalapeno Sugar Cookies

Okay, so you can see from the title that I’ve done something very interesting with my candied jalapenos. I made a sweet and spicy cookie. I owe huge thanks to Foodie with Family for the candied jalapeno recipe and to Blog Her Food for the idea to try to make jalapeno cookies in the first …

Garden Gab weeks 22 and 23….and freezer jam

So, it’s hot…Yep a shocker I know!  Last week, instead of Garden Gab on Friday I posted a whole wheat chocolate cake recipe.  I know, the cake was lovely, but it felt strange after 21 weeks of garden posts to not have one last week.  So, to correct that and make myself feel better….This week …

Sweet Carrot Pickles

I’m sad to report that the giant carrots seem to be all gone now.  For two weekly visits in a row (last week and this week), I have been unable to find the giant carrots at the Farmer’s Market.   My son thinks they are freaks of nature, he has not been enjoying the über carrots. …

Can it up! Pickles…a how to.

Canning is a wonderful way to keep summer fruits and vegetables for use in the winter. It’s an especially great thing to do if you are trying to live frugally and make use of in-season produce. My bloggy friend Allie of Forgotten Beast and I are going to be writing some very detailed, step by …
