Food from my garden, this week in fail

20120708-192534.jpg

With oodles and oodles of squash and zucchini from my garden, we’ve tried a few “new to us” recipes lately.

Some were good, some were not.

This one, from Paula Deen, was not a winner.

The flavors did not work well together, no one wanted a second helping, and we tossed the remainder.

I made 1 alteration, I added a few slices of zucchini, I can’t see how my small addition could change the flavor much.

Maybe I’m wrong though.

What cooking fails have you had lately?

  1. Oh man, if squash + cheese goes wrong, there just has to be something off about the recipe. And I keep having pancake fails, as I’m convinced I can make them in my regular stainless steel pan. NOPE. I need to just stop trying until I buy a nonstick pan–I have dumped so many burnt yet battery disgusting messes, you’d think I would learn by now…

  2. Such a shame, especially using your lovely ingredients from the garden 😦

  3. I hope to have this problem soon. The glut of squash, not the bad Deen recipe!

  4. Haven’t had any fail recently, but found this excellent zucchini bread recipe recently. It is vegan (my son has an egg allergy), and the best I have every tasted. I eliminated the arrow root and flax seed, and cut the sugar by about 1/2 – 3/4 cup. Everything else, I left the same. Worth a try during zucchini season. http://allrecipes.com/recipe/kingmans-vegan-zucchini-bread/

  5. Sorry this didn’t work out for you. I would suggest the zucchini gratin from Ina Garten.

  6. Don’t you hate when a recipe isn’t as good as you’re hoping? Better luck next time!!!
