Jalapeño cheese squares
I posted this recipe in April, when very few people read my blog.
Like 4 or 5 people. Heh.
Since this is one of the easy, but well received appetizers I will be making for our Halloween Party I am re-posting it. These jalapeno cheese squares are easy to put together, make ahead friendly, and great for parties or football games or Thursdays. Thursdays need a little Wow! from time to time.
Since I took these photos with my old, but trusty iPhone 3Gs I am linking up with Liz for

I got this recipe from my 2nd mother. You might think that would be my mother in law, but it’s not. I’ve been blessed with a mother, a step mother and a mother in law. I hit the mother trifecta. This recipe came from my (2nd mother), my step mother.
It’s super easy, cheesy, a tad spicy, and it’s even better when it’s been chilled over night.
Ingredients:
2-3 jalapeno peppers, seeded and chopped. OR ***see my short cut below***
1 lb. sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
6 eggs
1/2 tsp. baking powder
See, super easy.
What to do:
Put peppers in a well-greased baking pan (9″ would work perfectly). Cover them with the cheese.
Beat eggs and baking powder. Pour over cheese and peppers.
Bake at 350 deg. for 30 minutes or until firm. Cut into 1 inch squares.
I chill them for 24 hours, but you could serve them as soon as they are cool enough to eat.
***Or my short cut is….diced, mild jalapeno peppers in a jar. I use about 1/3 of the bottle.***
Meet my cheese thief! She was sneaking cheese while I was working.
She loves cheese. She also enjoys these cheese squares.
My cheese thief and I hope you have a wonderful day.
Tomorrow I will be re-posting my Texas Caviar recipe, it’s got jalapeno in it too. 😀

Girl, are you trying to kill me? Those look delicious! Now I’m going to have to resist making them! 😉
Sorry! I promise you they taste wonderful. 🙂 I serve them at parties.
I’ve got an extra child coming home with me tomorrow, I figured this snack should help me cope with three hungry middle schoolers.
what a wonderful relationship you must have with your 2nd mother! What a blessing 🙂
Simple and easy enough! I can see why you reposted! And…. Wow, your daughter looks just like you!!!

Oh those look good. I think I remember the cavier recipe, but I won’t ruin it for everyone else.
Way to bring back old posts for #iPPP!
Those look both easy and delicious – which is my favorite.
How fun! I may not use the jalepeno part but maybe incorporate a less “hot & spicy” addition.

I’m going to have to try these! Sounds right up my alley!
Such a good recipe, esp for someone like me, who is trying to live starch free (8kgs down and counting), thanks for reposting! 🙂
