Spiritual gifts~ Thought Provoking Thursday.

Before I begin, let me say this. This is a spiritually based post. I speak about my faith and my religious beliefs. It is not intended to exclude or offend anyone.

Once again, I am linking up with SomeGirl’s Website.

“Teach us, good Lord, to serve you as you deserve :
to give, and not to count the cost,
to fight, and not to heed the wounds,
to toil, and not to seek for rest,
to labor, and not to ask for any reward,
save that of knowing that we do your will.”
— Ignatius of Loyola

Spiritual Gifts, gifts of spirit…..I have known all my adult life that one of my gifts was a gift of service and kindness. My gift gives me a wish to help and be of service to others and gives me a great joy from serving or helping them.

Let me explain…..

If I can help you in some way, I not only want to do it, I almost feel a compulsion to do it. No, compulsion isn’t quite right, because it’s not a bad thing. It’s a good thing, a little whisper in my ear that I can help, that I should help, that it’s what God wants of me. I ignore the whisper sometimes, it isn’t convenient, I’m tired, sick, (insert excuse here). I feel best when I comply, I feel right with God when I serve.

So if I can help someone, I usually really, really want to.

You see, because service to others is one of my spiritual gifts I get great joy from helping others. I feel happy that I’ve helped. I feel thankful that I was able to aid someone. Most times people are thankful for the help and that feels good also, but even if they are not thankful I still feel good. I do these things because I want to, not because I’m forced to.

It’s a gift that my children have inherited too. By God’s design and I’m sure by seeing me in action they have become helpful, kind people as well.

“Do unto others, as you would have them do unto you.”

Is something we live. It means we think about other people and how our actions will affect them.

It means we treat others with kindness and respect.

If you do know what your spiritual gifts are, are you using them?

If not, why?

  1. Regardless of religion, beliefs, spirituality I think this should apply to all of us…they are just the basics of living in a civilised society. Be good to others, help where you can, respect others…wouldn´t the world be a much nicer place if everyone did this…if only!

    • I agree! That would be a wonderful world. 🙂

  2. may we all know our giftings and operate in them because through the use of allowing God to operate in them then others are blessed and we are blessed tremendously

    • Well said Starla! Thank you for taking the time to comment. I love your post about the feathers!

  3. Never apologize for your beliefs – you have the courage of your convictions to put them in writing 🙂

    • Thank you Tandy. I worry about offending people. 🙂 I worry too much perhaps.
