Couponing for Community…This week!

Did you know that this week is a special week for food donations?

I would add that this is a great way to “get started” making food pantry donations.  I would challenge you to begin a monthly habit of helping those in need.   

This is a big week for couponers across the country. If you have a stockpile and a heart for giving, join our community of couponers and bloggers by using your couponing skills to give big to a homeless shelter, food pantry, or a friend in need this week: May 8-14!

Couponing for Community is a nationwide event utilizing the power of couponing and social media to make a united impact for those in need. There is no set time or location to take your donations- take them to any shelter, food bank, church bank- wherever you feel their impact is most needed.

Be sure to keep track of how many items you give and help reach the Couponing for Community goal of 10,000 items this year! The event is already well under way, with several thousand items donated so far. Participants are sharing photos on Facebook and some bloggers are hosting location-specific event drives to accept donations.

Many in the South affected by the recent tornadoes would be so blessed with basic supplies and toiletries – items we can always buy with a coupon. This is a huge opportunity to share God’s love in a practical way.

Couponing for Community also runs in conjunction with Stamp Out Hunger day which is this coming Saturday, May 14. You can simply leave non-perishable items in a marked bag by your mailbox and your food will be picked up by your mail carrier and donated to a local food bank/pantry. It does not get any easier than that to make a difference!
